Thank you for sharing your work it is a great addition.

There may be a bug of sorts that I ahve come across (though it could be my end)

the upload works so does the file exceeds limit work

But a large file seems to bypass the system and load up and assigned no owner?

this case the size was set at 200kb the image attempted was 3mb

the image loaded (I saw it in admin) but no owner and a total blank screeen! no warning error or insert.

I have repeated this several times

Any idea what this could be?

micky @ Mi, 22 März 2006, 18:39 gab folgendes von sich:
the image loaded (I saw it in admin) but no owner and a total blank screeen! no warning error or insert.

This issue has been discussed several times - only in german till now so you wouldn't know Wink

If you upload huge pictures and those images have to be resized by UploadPic due to your limitations (maximum image dimensions) in the ACP, the script (UploadPic) has to uncompress the picture in order to process it.
This is a common compression-ratio in JPG-Files:

So the file is only 234kB big (and can be handled ok) but as soon as it is uncompressed (to resize and/or rotate it), it takes up almost ten times more - 2.25MB - server memory. If the server-settings do not allow scripts to reserve that much memory, the script can't proceed and will just freeze with a white screen.

If you can't change your server setting, you'll have to tell people not to upload huge files (e.g. using the "info"-variable in UploadPic to display information before the upload), there's no other solution to it.

Well, not quite true: set the maximum filesize to several MB (and the maximum dimensions really high) so UploadPic won't have to resize any picture, then it should work ... but you don't really want people to fill your webspace with giant images, do you ? (not talking about people having to download those files again when reading the topics and huge pictures probably breaking your layout)
